A new series of PE along with PITBULL. Honeywell's Spectra® is used as the PE material. Eight-strand weave is finished by the MX2 method, which improves abrasion resistance and provides moderate 'bounce/stiffness'. The PE line is easy to use with spinning reels as well as baitcasting reels.

Through extensive material testing in the lab and repeated test fishing in the field, Shimano combined its instructors' wisdom and its own technology to refine the product on-site.

The reason why Spectra fiber is suitable for the MX2 method is the thickness of the raw thread. The thickness of the raw thread greatly contributes to abrasion resistance.

The MX2 method forms a highly crystallized layer on the fiber surface of the PE line. The outermost layer is coated with a silicone coating to make it water-repellent and improve the line's handling.

Resistant to abrasion underwater

We compared its durability underwater with that of regular PE lines. In an experiment where it was subjected to friction until it broke, the results showed that it was about three times as durable.

Fishing lines wear out underwater, so we focused on abrasion resistance not only in the air but also underwater, and developed the line with this in mind.
