Shimano's strongest PE line ever born

The Ocea 17+ boasts the strongest linear strength in Shimano's history, surpassing all previous products, and has the performance to confidently take on even the biggest fish. With a 16-strand and 1-core structure and using the latest SF700 yarn material, it combines incredible strength and durability.

It uses a 16-strand twist structure that achieves a smooth surface and good thread release when casting. The 16-strand coated structure of automobile brakes was used as a reference during development. By applying this structure, which combines durability and flexibility against repeated impacts, a completely new PE line was completed.

By placing a core material in the center of the line, it is possible to prevent the line from deteriorating due to twisting or crushing, and to maintain its initial performance for longer.

The Ocea 17+ has higher wear resistance than previous models.

Normally, PE lines with a high twist count have thinner threads per strand compared to other lines with the same size. This creates a smooth and even surface, but at the same time, the thinner atoms have the disadvantage of lower abrasion resistance.

This contradiction was resolved by the adoption of the new standard thread 'SF700'. The filaments that make up the thread of SF700 are designed to be three times thicker than conventional threads, achieving high abrasion resistance at the thread level. In addition to adopting this new thread, Shimano's unique surface treatment has been applied to achieve even greater abrasion resistance.

The Ocea 17+ uses a new PE line dyeing technology that dramatically improves the color retention on the surface. It maintains a higher level of visibility than conventional PE lines, making it easier to follow the lure's trace line when casting and the distance of the fish when fighting.

Ocea 17+ pursues perfect matching with the NEW Stella SW and the NEW Ocea Plugger Limited from the development stage based on Shimano's Infinity Connect concept. By combining these reels, rods, and gears developed as systematic products, the overall casting performance is significantly improved, bringing three benefits to anglers: improved casting feel, improved casting distance, and improved line strength maintenance rate. The acceleration of the entire tackle vector provides an additional advantage in offshore casting.
